La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival 2017

If you enjoy awesome floats, marching bands and all kinds of parade fun, the La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival is the perfect event for you. Plenty of vintage automobiles will be on hand, along with Santa Clause and so much more! The theme for the parade and festival this year is "Christmas Jewels." Plenty of bands, equestrian units, canine units, marching units, floats and vehicles will be a part of the parade. There will even be a fire engine from OMBAC at the event this year.

The Christmas Parade

The annual event kicks off with a parade starting at 1:30 PM. The parade will travel along Girard Avenue until about 2:30 PM when it ends at the La Jolla Recreation Center. The parade has been going on for almost 60 years now. During the holidays this is one of the best events in town.

A Festival Decorated By Christmas Light Installers

Many businesses in La Jolla hire Christmas light installers to hang Christmas lights at their stores during the weeks leading up to the event. This is always a great addition to the parade and festival. As soon as the parade ends, the holiday festival begins. The festival will include live music, dance performances, a Kids Zone and tons of great family-friendly fun. There will also be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the end of the festival. Santa will be visiting during the parade and festival. He will be riding in the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club's classic 1915 Black Packard Convertible. Santa Claus will also be available for pictures throughout the festival portion of the event. The Candy Cane Carollers and many other music groups will be performing at the event this year. Local businesses like the Birch Aquarium, the La Jolla Historical Society, the Gillispie School and the Rotary Club will be participating in the festival as well. If you enjoy classic cars, parade floats or Christmas music, be sure to stop by the event this year.
